The North defeats Oldham 34-21.

North Oldham head coach Brock Roberts improved to 3-1 against Oldham County and brought the rivalry win back to Goshen Friday night as the Mustangs controlled the Colonels, 34-21.

North Oldham (2-1) scored 34 points and averaged 8.5 yards per play against an Oldham County (2-1) defense that entered the night allowing 11 points per game.

Senior running back Ronin Renton carried the Mustangs - toting the rock 15 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns. He added 20 receiving yards for 149 all-purpose yards.

Senior quarterback Brodie Pfeiffer connected on 17-of-25 passes for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a 48-yarder to Jackson Davis and a 16-yard score to Conner Nesmith.

Oldham County quarterback Javy Tucker threw for 211 yards and 2 scores, but was intercepted twice by North Junior Landon Kirtley.

The Colonels struck first with a 41-yard field goal by Rowan Williams, but the Mustangs responded with the 20-unanswered to take control of the game.

Renton ripped off scoring runs of 5 and 12 yards to put the Mustangs up 13-3. After the Mustang defense forced a punt, Pfeiffer launched a flea-flicker to Jackson Davis for a 48-yard touchdown to extend the margin to 20-3.

Tucker found Luke Collier on an RPO-slant that ended up going 76 yards for a touchdown for the Colonels, and Jess Officer cashed a 2-point conversion to draw Oldham County within 20-11.

The Colonels came out of the half with another field goal drive to draw within 20-14, but back-to-back scores from Nesmith (16-yard TD catch) and Destin Lindsey (24-yard TD run) pushed the Mustang lead to 34-14 with 10 minutes left in the game.

Tucker hit his favorite target, Cayenne Redmon, for a 27-yard touchdown to bring Oldham County back within 34-21, and the Colonels recovered the ensuing onside kick. Tucker led the Colonels down to the 4-yard line in the closing moments of the game, but Mustang linebacker Preston Smith stuck Tucker on 2nd and goal. Freshman Weston Brisco came on in relief in the pivotal moment for the Colonels, and the Mustangs shut him down back-to-back downs to close out the rivalry victory.

The Mustangs improved to 2-1 in 2026 and 15-4 at home in the Roberts era. They’ll head to South Oldham (1-2) next week searching for their first sweep of the county since 2014.
