LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After being postponed on September 18th due to inclement weather, the contest between the Ballard Bruins and Fern Creek Tigers would resume play with the Bruins picking up the big win 28-0.

The game would start out slow with a scoreless first quarter, but Robert Phelps would get the first score of the night as he punched it in on the goal line to give Ballard the 7–0 lead.

The Bruins’ strong defensive front was on full display, getting after Fern Creek's Lamin Gaye often. The Tigers’ first offensive drive of the second quarter ended after Gaye was dropped for the first of four sacks on the night.

Ballard would regain possession and take a two-score lead on what could have possibly been the play of the week. The Bruins’ JayMari Marks-Glover looked to be dead to rights by a Fern Creek defender but shook him off and turned the field for a big touchdown run.

The big issue for the Bruins this season has been the run game. Up to this point, they’d only averaged 3 yards a carry and 68.8 yards per game. Tonight, the offensive line was in sync and led to many big plays and a dominant ground attack, including 3 fourth-down conversions.

Bruins Quarterback Kenneth Mozee also had a night, throwing for three touchdowns, including two in the second half. One came on a fourth and four where his pass intended for Marks-Glover was tipped up and caught by Rashad Collett.

His final touchdown pass would mark the final score of the game as he connected with Easton Rebok for the 28–0 score.

The Tigers’ lone takeaway came late in the fourth quarter as Jackson McFarland picked off Mozee, but the game would be called with 5:11 left in the fourth quarter as a brawl broke out between both teams.

For the Bruins, it was an impressive performance that got them in the win column for the first time since November of last year. But the altercation at the end of the game could lead to suspensions, which would be costly as they enter district play. Ballard will have their biggest test of the season as they play Trinity October 9th.

Fern Creek will now fall to 1-5 on the year and also face potential suspensions with district play looming as they host Bullitt East next Friday.
