N. Oldham spanks Waggener 36-6.

LOUISVILLE, Ky.— Constant pressure, short field, and a little bit of trickery proved to be the perfect combination for the North Oldham Mustangs’ 36–6 rout of Waggener on the Wildcats’ senior night.
In a game with big playoff seeding implications, the Mustangs secured the number one seed in Class 4A District Three on the backs of Brodie Pfeiffer, Ronan Renton, and the big man Harrison McGraw.
North Oldham kept the pressure on the Wildcats’ offensive line and constantly made dual-threat quarterback Arion Roach move in the pocket to try and make something happen. That, along with Waggener only punting one time on the night, meant the Mustangs were always in prime field position, which led to the playbook opening and some trickery hitting the field.
The first attempt didn’t go as planned, with a lineman touchdown pass attempt being intercepted, but the following drive would see Harrison McGraw take three direct snaps before he finally barreled through to hit pay dirt.
Waggener tried to make things happen throughout the night, but their first score wouldn’t come until the final buzzer sounded as Arion Roach escaped the pocket and broke a few sacks as he rumbled his way up the sideline and dove for the end zone to get something on the board before time expired.
The Wildcats had a few chances at the end zone, including getting to around the 30-yard line before a sack and multiple dropped passes led to a turnover on downs. Continuous drops and pressure on Roach would be the difference maker for Waggener tonight, as they could never get into a rhythm.
While North Oldham would secure the number one seed in the district, Waggener would fall to 1–2 in district play, placing them at fourth. They will have their final district matchup on October 23rd against Breckenridge County to try and move back up and get a more favorable playoff matchup come postseason.
Next week the Mustangs will be on their bye and will be back in action for their regular season finale October 30th against the Atherton Ravens, a game they lost 42-13 last year and could have more playoff implications with RPI if they are able to take the win.
