Henry County Defeats Harrison County 36–9

Henry County defeated Harrison County 36–9 in a game that featured a strong rushing performance from Henry County and several key plays that helped the Wildcats pull away.

Harrison County held Henry County to a competitive start before Henry County’s offense found its rhythm. Henry County finished with 246 total yards, including 218 rushing yards.

Jason Ray led the rushing attack with 13 carries for 137 yards and four touchdowns. Camdien Clark added three carries for 14 yards.

Harrison County finished with 132 total yards, including 101 passing yards. The Harrison quarterback, Carter Curry, completed 13 of 16 passes for 101 yards.

Malik Barnett led Harrison’s rushing efforts with a 32-yard run, while Landon Custard recorded three carries for 20 yards and Carter Curry had nine carries for 18 yards.

Through the air, Harrison’s leading receiver was Landon Custard, who recorded four catches for 22 yards. Ashton Gaunce added three catches for 23 yards. Henry County’s leading receiver was Camdien Clark, who finished with four catches for 85 yards.

One of the game’s biggest plays came in the fourth quarter when a pass thrown by Harrison quarterback Carter Curry was intercepted by Henry County player Baylor Nolan and returned 72 yards. The interception gave Henry County a significant momentum swing.

Penalties were also a factor. Harrison County was penalized 10 times for 85 yards, while Henry County had just three penalties for 28 yards. The difference resulted in Harrison being assessed 57 more penalty yards than Henry County.

Henry County ultimately finished with the 36–9 victory, while Harrison County will look to bounce back next week.

Looking Ahead

Harrison County will return home next Friday to face Fleming County. Henry County will also be at home next week, taking on Lafayette.

Both teams will have an opportunity to build on their performances as they move into the next week of the season.
