Coming in riding a four-game winning streak with back-to-back come-from-behind wins, the Wildcats were poised to continue their winning ways as the Rebels of Ole Miss came into town.

Things started off rocky in a multitude of ways with the much-earlier start time due to winter weather, and the way the Cats played the first ten minutes or so. The Cats truly didn’t start to get things going until hometown true freshman Jasper Johnson started making shots.

After Jasper’s eight-point run towards the end of the first half, the Wildcats went into halftime with a six-point lead, up by a score of 29-23.

Things got off to a hot start for the Cats as Chandler would make his first basket from deep range, and Oweh joined the party that got started with an emphatic dunk. However, after the lead the Cats would maintain with their hot start in the second half, the Rebels would tie it 39-39 at the 13-minute mark.

After a couple of missed shots, Jasper Johnson would put up a deep three-pointer to give the Cats a three-point lead (42-39) with just over 12 minutes to play.

The Cats would start to hit a snag midway through the second half as they’d go on just over a four-minute scoring drought before Aberdeen would nail a pair from the stripe. Moments later, Aberdeen would get called for a bogus foul, giving the Cats their seventh of the half.

Oweh started showing during this game and the second half why he was picked as the preseason SEC player of the year.

He may have struggled a bit in the first half with plays and fouls, but up to the 3-minute mark had around 20 points.

Fifty-five seconds to go in the game up three points, the Wildcats had the ball dribbling around with the shot clock winding down, Colin Chandler got the

ball and hoisted a massive deep range shot making it causing the crowd to erupt as the Cats would go up six (66-60).

The Cats would wind up coming in clutch for themselves as they’d convert their final six free throw shots winning the game by a final score of 72-63.

The Cats go on and win their fifth in a row, moving their league record to (7-2) and 14-6 overall. With this victory, Kentucky sits just a half game back of first place in the SEC conference, awaiting their next game against the Commodores of Vanderbilt on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
