Coming up short against Florida

Kentucky entered today’s game against Florida on an amazing high following last week’s come-from-behind victory against Tennessee. Out of the last ten games, the Wildcats had won 9 of 10.
Not to mention, the Wildcats had clawed their way into second place with a chance for a tie at first in the SEC. Right from the start, the Florida Gators were running and gunning, shooting from every angle and spot on the floor.
The Cats would start to make a comeback of sorts, but the Gators would be able to hold off Kentucky towards the end of the half, going up just under 10.
I don’t know if it was what they’ve gone through these last 9 wins, the injuries of three key players, having to fight and claw from way down to victory, or all three above; however, they just looked tired, flat, and defeated.
Anybody can trade and go bucket for bucket, but when you’re in a position all game like Kentucky was, sometimes what you do and give just isn’t enough. To be fair, it gets risky when one of your key players, freshman Moreno, plays the majority of the second half with four fouls.
The stat that stood out the most to me
in regards to this game between the Wildcats and the Gators was this: 15 missed layups today from Kentucky caused by the rowdy defense that the Gators had on display.
“Lost the game, but won the fight”
Up next for the Wildcats is the Bulldogs of Georgia next Tuesday at 9 p.m. inside full arena.
