It’s was quite amusing how Cal began the game with a flea flicker on the first play, however they’d get the last laugh.

After the Bears were unsuccessful in their attempts, Miller Moss and co were poised to march down the field. After a few hiccups, the Cardinals started hitting their stride as Miller would find a cardinal for a FIRST DOWN CARD!

After Miller & co got the first down for the Cardinals, Keyjuan Brown had a solid few carries getting another first down setting up the Cardinals with good field position.

After that, Miller would get crafty shifting himself into the perfect position getting the ball deep into territory to Caullin Lacey.

Couple more plays dike Watson would get the ball in for six, putting the Cards on the board first going up 7-0 in the first. Cal would quickly come back marching down the field; however, they’d be getting into a crucial third down and Louisville’s D’Angelo Hutchinson would come up big with a stop.

Louisville would unfortunately be unsuccessful in their rebuttal, leaving plenty of time for the Bears to make headway. And that’s just what they’d do as the Golden Bears would march down the field scoring a touchdown.

After that, Louisville quarterback Miller Moss would throw a pass that would be tipped back to Miss and he would take it 19 yards up field. After a few more efforts by the Cardinals offense, they would have to settle for a field goal as the second quarter would start.

The second quarter would mostly be a defensive battle as both teams fought hard trying to score. Cal had a few momentous plays but were unable to capitalize and turn their efforts into points.

Louisville would get on the board after a few plays with a 49-yard field goal with just over two minutes to go in the first half.

The first half would end with the Bears driving down the field 75 yards, scoring on a third-down run, taking the lead into half 17-13. Cal had struggled all season up to this point with running the ball, and so far in the first half, they had shown flashes of success with running the ball.

The second half would begin with the Golden Bears driving and thriving, clearing space, making plays, but having to settle for three. Miller Moss and co would find themselves in prime position, ready to score.

Keyjuan Brown would break away for a huge gain attempting to score, but was met with defenders of the Bears right in front of the goal line. It would take Miller Moss two tries and tie the game 20-20.

The third would end with the Bears going up by a score of 23-20 late just before the end of the quarter.

Every game from here on out is very crucial and vital for the Cards as they inch closer to a massive playoff push. After a failed attempt, Miller Moss would find tight end Nate Kurisky for a deep 37-yard first down play setting the tone for the final quarter of play.

Duke Watson would get back involved as he would have a couple of good runs to get a first down for Louisville. Miller would later throw a back shoulder play to Collins.

However, the pass to Collins was near/on the sidelines and after review, the play was overturned resulting in a 3&10 for the Cards. The Cards would find their way on the plus side of things scoring with a field goal tying the game, 23-23 with eleven minutes to go.

The remaining moments of the fourth quarter would see a game going back and forth with neither side scoring.

Cal would get the ball back with mere time remaining, on 2nd&10 Louisville’s Wesley Bailey would come up with a huge 2nd down sack! This sack would put Cal out of field goal range.

Cal would be forced to punt after a great stand by their defense and what do you know?, Cal only had a 18 yard punt to midfield.

Louisville at this moment in the game would really only need ten yards to be in range. Miller would be unable to get away from the Cal defenders, thus resulting in a sack.

The final play of regulation would result in Moss throwing a lazy pass falling down to no man’s land. What’s sad is the announcer would point out the crowd booing the product on the field as the fourth quarter would end.

The beginning stages of overtime for Louisville did not fare well as they were unable to get anything going aside from a run or two from Keyjuan. Louisville would look to lean on their kicker as Ranvier would convert on a 49-yard kick.

3rd&2 in overtime Cal would have the ball, the Bears would do a roll out and convert just needing eight yards to win. Cards get the Bears to another 3rd&2 in overtime, Clev Lubin comes up huge with a stop.

Cal decides to go for it on 4th & goal with nothing to lose and having the 15th ranked team on the ropes at home.

And what do you know Cal does the unthinkable and defeats the Cardinals in overtime on a 4th&3 pass play winning 29-26. Cal was favored to lose by a total of 18+ points and won by three.

What does this loss mean for Louisville? Likely out of the ACC title game, and more than likely out of the playoffs as well.

Louisville falls to (7-2) on the year with a (4-2) ACC record, and more than likely dropping several spots or possibly out of the top 25.

Up next for the Cardinals, the Tigers of Clemson come to town on Friday, November 14th, a primetime ESPN game.
