Ravens End Four-Game Skid Against "Da Bears"

The Chicago Bears came into Baltimore riding a four-game win streak, while the Ravens, fresh off their bye week, were looking to end a four-game losing streak of their own.
Early on, it looked like more of the same for Baltimore. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams came out hot, connecting with Rome Odunze for three quick completions totaling over 40 yards. However, the Ravens’ defense held firm, bending but not breaking throughout the afternoon — allowing just one touchdown, a rushing score by DeAndre Swift.
With Lamar Jackson sitting out another week to recover, Tyler Huntley got the start at quarterback. Longtime readers know I’ve been calling for “Snoop” to get another shot ever since Cooper Rush’s turnover-heavy performances earlier in the season.
Huntley proved me right — managing the offense efficiently, making the necessary throws, and rushing for 53 yards without forcing plays. After two early Chicago field goals, the Ravens answered with a two-yard touchdown run by Derrick Henry.
A Tyler Loop field goal later in the half sent Baltimore into the locker room with a 10–6 lead. Coming out of halftime, the Bears briefly took the lead on a DeAndre Swift touchdown, but it was all Ravens from that point forward.
Corner Nate Wiggins came up huge with an interception that set up another Henry rushing score from inside the five. Huntley then connected with tight end Charlie Kolar for a 10-yard touchdown on National Tight End Day to seal the win.

Ravens Review
This is exactly the kind of performance the Ravens needed while Lamar heals up. Huntley once again showed, just as he did in 2020 and 2021, that he can keep this team afloat in Jackson’s absence. He managed the game smartly, made key throws when needed, and extended drives with his legs.
For the first time since Week 2 against the Browns, Baltimore football looked like Baltimore football again. The bye week clearly helped the defense regroup and heal.
The biggest return was linebacker Roquan Smith, who bounced back from a rough outing and injury against Detroit to post 12 tackles. Rookie defensive lineman Mike Green also continues to impress — possibly the steal of the draft — stepping up big with Justin Madubuike sidelined.

Stats and Player of the Game
Tyler Huntley: 17/22, 186 yards, 1 TD; 8 carries, 53 yards
Derrick Henry: 21 carries, 71 yards, 2 TDs
Keaton Mitchell: 4 carries, 43 yards
Zay Flowers: 7 receptions, 63 yards
Rashod Bateman: 2 receptions, 51 yards
Player of the Game: Tyler Huntley
Huntley didn’t surprise me — he just reminded everyone what he’s capable of. This is why I questioned John Harbaugh’s earlier decision to start Cooper Rush instead of elevating Huntley from the practice squad. It may have been two games too late, but it’s good to see the right call finally made.

Looking Ahead
The season is far from over, and the AFC North remains wide open. With Pittsburgh falling to the Bengals last week and Cincinnati giving the Jets their first win of the season, Baltimore still has a legitimate shot to make a push. Whether Lamar returns on a short week against Miami remains uncertain, but if this team stays healthy, there’s no reason they can’t string together a few wins.
