Hereās my third installment of my Q&A series with John Rondi, bka āJohnny Drinksā. John Rondi first got his start in social media around COVID.
He never could have dreamed of things to go on and turn into what they have for him and his son. But what makes John special is this: heās never forgotten where he came from.
Here we chat about being a husband, fatherhood, content creation, and of course bourbon. Enjoy this Q&A !
C) Did you ever think what you and your son started doing during Covid, would take you guys to where it has?
(J) no, not in the least bit. This was like aĀ scratch-off lottery ticket! Ā TheĀ first video went viral, then the follow-up was in the place of having fun and began to take on a true āsocial lifeā.
(C) Your knowledge of bourbon & hospitality, just how deep does it exactly run?Ā
(J) My knowledge is best explained, coming fromĀ experience. I love to host. Any chance I have, I would rather have people overĀ than be aĀ guest. Ā WeĀ learn a lot by doing. Ā
(C) How has doing this with your son, strengthened your allās relationship?
Ā (J) It has helped both of us in more ways than we can put into perspective. Not all times come without frustrations, however,Ā I am so appreciative to get a true understanding of who he is , and the man heās become. Thatās priceless!
(C) I see your daughter recently got engaged, how does that make you feel as a girl dad knowing youāre going to make that walk with your baby girl?
Ā (J) I am thrilled! So blessed to have both my daughters to share this special moment. I already have VictoiraĀ Ā whoās with a great man. Iām going to be better prepared with the emotional journey giving her wedding was severalĀ Ā years ago. Ā Diana will be in January 2027, so I have time to prepare!Ā
(C) In your eyes, what are the pros & cons of social media and the influence it has on folks?
(J) Social media tends toĀ waterĀ down our social existence, as well as the foundation fromĀ which communities are built. Ā Clearly, thereās less face-to-face and pressing human,Ā personal interaction. Ā On the other hand, we have a world at our fingertips. Knowledge is power. Putting it to good use, education, information thatās useful and real-time relevant. Ā The balance is understanding whatās real.Ā
(C) Whatās something you and your son have been able to do since starting social media, that youād never thought youād do?
(J) We get to travel and have unbelievable family experiences. These opportunities are limitless. Ā Before this account, we really did not travel as a family as often.Ā
(C) How long do you see yourself doing social media? Is it a full-time job?Ā
(J) This is a full-time job. While I still have a mortgage license, social media is my day-to-day. I will go as long as people still find us of value.Ā
(C) Whatās it like being married as long as you have been, and how has being married shaped you into the man you are?
(J) 35 years! Ā One of my greatest accomplishments. Nothing of who I am today comesĀ without my wife, Jen.Ā She is the greatest supporter, grounds me, and remainsĀ the rock of our family.
(C) Whatās your favorite bourbon-infused drink to make, and what is your favorite type of bourbon?
(J) I like Bourbon(Period) !!
So many different values inĀ any bottle. Truth is, I donāt have one specific āgo-toā. I appreciate them all, regardless ofĀ price point. I enjoy a Manhattan. Especially the way I make them!
(C) Whoās the most famous person in your contacts?
(J) You! Ā My family and close friends. Ā Truth is , if I need help, Iām calling one of them.
(C) Best piece of advice youāve ever received?
(J) What you can do is limitedĀ , what you can accomplish through others is limitless.
(C) How do you want to be remembered as a husband/father?
(J) As a guy that provided, showed up ready to be a dad,Ā and inĀ the end , did his best to support everyone.Ā
(C) Ever been to Kentucky? We need to get you in town for the Derby!Ā
(J) Not yet. But getting closeā¦taking a trip to Jack Danielās in September. Next August, planning a big Bourbon Trail trip with my high school friends.
